Prague

We are now team Green, our tour group for this part of the trip.

We found out there are a bunch of Canadians on this trip so they have put us all together.

They are from Alberta and BC.

As you can see today is a bunch of sightseeing with some beer thrown in just to keep Bob interested.

We found out that the other Canadians here are part of an Expedia Tour group of agents for the BC area, i think there are 18 of them.

Started our morning with a lovely buffet breakfast in the dining room, they had everything we normally like to eat and some fun extras.

It was clear blue skies and 8c today so left our extreme clothes for another day but did dress warmly. The guide told us it is not usually like this here in November so we are lucky.

We then joined our group for a twisty turny bus ride over the river and up to the top of the hill to Prague Castle over looking the city. It was very windy and cold up there but a lovely building, have to say I was not impressed when tour did not include admission to the church.

We got lots of history and info about life in Prague. We then started our walk back into the city. LOTS OF COBBLESTONES. So if you don't like them don’t come here as every street and sidewalk is made form them.

The weather then changed and got very cool and dark.

During a break for coffee I found a lovely little store selling wooden items so my first nativity has been purchased. So the game has begun. Note that most Christmas markets are not open here yet so this counts.

This is the description from the tour company what we did: Your morning tour reveals all the fairytale beauty of “The City of a Hundred Spires,” starting with the Prague Castle, the world’s largest ancient castle. The castle grounds are dominated by the monumental St. Vitus Cathedral taking 600 years to complete. From the castle, walk along the 14th-century pedestrian-only Charles Bridge to the historic old city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Town Square dates back to the 12th century, and is silhouetted by the fabled Týn Cathedral with its iconic Gothic twin towers that can be seen from all over Prague. Dominating the square is the Gothic Old Town Hall, home to the world-famous medieval astronomical clock the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world.

Instead of getting a beer we got mulled wine and our first Christmas mug. Bob and I then dumped the group and headed off to walk the city on our own.

Had a great lunch and then came back to warm up. Once it gets dark, 4:30 here we will head back to a market near by to get some more local food as a treat.
